Change the World for the Better

Good morning, Kids.

Without hesitation, and in unison, Lisa Kelly & Chloe Agnew responded, “For Good,” when asked during a live chat on Facebook, “What is your favorite song to sing as a duet?”

While touring around the world for almost a decade as two of the founding members of the internationally-acclaimed musical group, Celtic Woman, Lisa & Chloe developed a friendship that will likely last a lifetime. It is heartwarming to watch them perform this duet together.

The song conveys an idea that should be familiar to Christians. We have been changed for the better.

Jesus said that we are the salt of the earth & the light of the world (Matthew 5:13-16). He said that we should be either hot or cold, but not lukewarm (Revelation 3:15-16). Paul further illustrates this concept in his letter to the Romans, “And do not be conformed (lukewarm) to this world, but be transformed (hot or cold) by the renewing of your mind, so that you may prove what the will of God is, that which is good and acceptable and perfect.” Romans 12:2

In other words, having been changed by God for the better, He wants us to change the world around us for the better. Listen to the words of Paul to the Galatians, “So then, while we have opportunity, let us do good to all people, and especially to those who are of the household of the faith.” Galatians 6:10

Someone once said, “Do people rejoice when you enter the room? Or, do they rejoice when you leave the room?” May our good deeds be a refreshment to the world, like a cup of hot tea in the cold winter time, or like a cup of cold lemonade in the hot summer time.

Have a great day!
Dad

Check it out, “For Good,” by Lisa Kelly & Chloe Agnew:

For Good

I’ve heard it said
that people come into our lives
for a reason
bringing something we must learn
And we are led
to those who help us most to grow
if we let them
and we help them in return
Well, I don’t know if I
believe that’s true
But I know I’m who I am today
because I knew you

CHORUS
Like a comet pulled from orbit
as it passes the sun
Like a stream that meets a boulder
half-way through the wood
Who can say
if I’ve been changed for the better?

But, because I knew you
I have been changed for good

It well may be
that we may never meet again
in this lifetime
so, let me say before we part
So much of me
is made of what I learned from you
you’ll be with me
like a hand print on my heart
And now whatever way
our stories end
I know you have re-written mine
by being my friend

CHORUS
Like a ship blown from its mooring
by the wind off the sea
Like a seed dropped by a skybird
in a distant wood
Who can say
if I’ve been changed for the better?

But, because I knew you
I have been changed for good

And just to clear the air
I ask forgiveness
for the things I’ve done you blame me for
But then, I guess
we know there’s blame to share
and none of it seems to matter anymore

[CHORUSES]

I do believe
I have been changed for the better!
Because I knew you
Because I knew you
Because I knew you
I have been changed for good.
