What
is an "E-mail POP3" account?
An E-mail Post Office Protocol 3 ("POP3") account
allows a user to receive e-mail into a dedicated POP3 e-mail
box. Each POP3 is assigned an e-mail log-on and password
so that the user may log-on to the e-mail server (mail.yourdomain.com),
enter their log-on userID and password, and download their
e-mail. Most newer web browsers are capable of downloading
and reading e-mail, including Microsoft Internet Explorer and
Netscape. Dedicated 3rd party e-mail programs can
also be used, such as Eudora or Pegasus Mail. Individual
users may operate one or more e-mail POP3's, but we do not
recommend multiple users sharing a single e-mail POP3.
When one user downloads their mail they would be downloading all
e-mails sent to that POP3, including e-mail intended for
another user.

What is an E-mail alias?
An E-mail "alias" is one of many possible e-mail addresses
that may be assigned to a single e-mail POP3 account. Say,
for example, that your account comes with five allocated e-mail POP3
accounts, and one was set up as admin@yourdomain.com. You have the
option of aliasing up to 9 more e-mail addresses to the admin@yourdomain.com
e-mail POP3 account, thus you can have up to 10 addresses being
delivered to the same e-mail POP3 account. In this example, admin@yourdomain.com
becomes the address of record (as well as an alias) and the additional
addresses assigned to it become aliases. Commonly assigned aliases
to admin@yourdomain.com include info@, sales@, billing@, support@, and
yourname@, amoung others.
You should be aware, however, that it would not be practical to assign
these aliases to more than one user for each POP3. This is because
there is only one e-mail log-on userID per POP3 and if one user of the
POP3 were to download the e-mail of the POP3 they would be downloading
all the e-mail there, even those that were intended for other
users. A single user may have multiple POP3's, but it is
recommended that a single POP3 have only one user.
How do I have my E-mail
automatically forwarded?
Your POP3 account can be set up to automatically forward incoming e-mail
to other e-mail address(es). When you place your order, please
indicate the address(es) to which you want your e-mail forwarded.
Be aware that the e-mail must first be delivered to at least one e-mail
POP3 account.
How do I set up an E-mail
auto-responder?
To set up an e-mail auto-responder, you must e-mail your request to JB.
You will need to dedicate one e-mail POP3 account per auto-responder.
A commonly assigned address for such a POP3 is "info@yourdomain.com".
When anyone sends an e-mail, regardless of it's content, to (in this
example) "info@yourdomain.com", the auto-responder would
e-mail a predetermined reply to the e-mail address listed in the
"Reply To" field of the incoming e-mail. To process your
request for an auto-responder, JB needs the following information:
1. The E-mail POP3 you wish to auto-respond
2. The log-on userID of the dedicated E-mail POP3 you wish to
auto-respond
3. The password for the dedicated Email POP3 you wish to auto-respond
4. The content of the "Reply To:" field of the auto-response
5. The content of the "Subject:" field of the auto-response
6. The content of the "Body" field of the auto-response

Does JB allow "bulk
E-mail"?
No, JB will not allow the e-mail POP3 accounts or the e-mail servers to
be used for the purpose of sending unsolicited or "bulk
e-mail". Bulk e-mail practices jeopardize the security and
integrity of the e-mail and web services we provide. Such use
inevitably generates retaliatory flames, e-mail "bombs", and
various other attacks. We make every effort to secure our servers
from these kinds of attacks, nevertheless, we cannot permit our clients
to engage in bulk e-mailing. |
